“Sovereignty” is a big word. It means God is in charge of everything. Proverbs 16 says we can make plans, but God is the one who guides how things turn out.

We Plan, God Directs

Proverbs 16:9 In their hearts humans plan their course, but the LORD establishes their steps.

It’s good to make plans. But sometimes things don’t go the way we expect. When that happens, we can trust that God is still in control.

Give Your Plans to God

Proverbs 16:3 Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.

This doesn’t mean we stop planning. It means we ask God to lead us and we hold our plans loosely. He knows what’s best.

God Uses Everything

Romans 8:28 And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Even when plans fall apart, God can turn it into something good. That’s why we don’t have to panic when life surprises us.

The Takeaway

Make your plans, but give them to God. He is in control, and he can use every twist and turn for good.
