Have you ever sifted sand at the beach? The sifter lets the mud fall through and keeps the treasures. Every day, you hear tons of ideas from TV, videos, games, and friends. Some are good and some are not. God wants you to sift every idea through his truth, so you can keep what’s true and toss out what isn’t.
This is part of The Grid for Kids. Your “grid” is like a sifter in your heart. It’s made of Bible truths that help you keep the good ideas and toss out the bad ones.
The Rock of Truth
The first rock in your Bible grid is truth. Jesus said the truth makes a big difference in your life.
John 8:32 Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.
Jesus himself is the truth (John 14:6), and the Bible is God’s true Word. When you know what God says, you won’t be fooled so easily.
Test Every Idea
Imagine a video that says, “If you get the newest toy, you’ll finally be happy.” Is that true? The Bible says real joy comes from loving God and loving others, not from stuff. When you test ideas with God’s truth, you’re protected from things like jealousy, anger, and feeling left out.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
Fill Up on God’s Word
The more you know the Bible, the better your sifter works. Reading and memorizing God’s Word every day helps you make wise choices, even when no one is telling you what to do (2 Timothy 3:16).
The Takeaway
God’s Word is the truth we can test every idea against. This week, whenever you hear a strange idea or feel tempted, ask, “Is this true according to the Bible?” If it doesn’t match what Jesus teaches, toss it out.
