“Christ in you, the hope of glory” is Paul’s summary of a secret God kept for ages and finally revealed through Jesus. The secret is that God’s salvation isn’t only for one nation. Anyone, Jew or Gentile, who believes in Jesus has Christ living in them by his Spirit. That presence is our hope, because it guarantees that we will share in Christ’s glory forever.
God Kept a Secret for Generations
For centuries, Israel was the people God had singled out. He gave them the law, the temple and the promises, and the nations around them were mostly on the outside looking in. The prophets hinted that God’s blessing would one day reach the whole world, but no one fully understood how. Paul says that God has now made that plan clear.

He told the Colossians what he was working and praying for on their behalf.

The heart of the Christian faith isn’t impersonal religious devotion. It’s a personal relationship with Jesus. Everything worth knowing about God is found in him, which is why Paul could say Jesus is supreme over everything. You don’t need a special experience or insider knowledge to get more of God. If you have Jesus, you have access to all the treasures.
Christ in You Gives You Confidence
Because Christ lives in every believer, Christians can have real confidence before God. That confidence isn’t based on how well we perform, how much we know or how devoted we feel on a given day. It rests on what God has done and the Spirit he has given us.
Ephesians 1:13-14 And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.
A deposit is a down payment that guarantees the rest is coming. The Holy Spirit living in you is God’s promise that you will share in Christ’s glory.
