Talking Points:
  • If God used snapchat, it might feel sometimes like he leaves you on “read”. When God doesn’t answer your prayer, it doesn’t mean he didn’t hear you or doesn’t care. He just might mean wait. Proverbs 3:5-6
  • God has a plan for your life. Your job is to be patient and trust him. Jeremiah 29:11
  • The story of Lazarus shows us that when God makes us wait, his power is on full display. John 11:4
  • Remember, God is God and you are not! If he makes you wait, it’s because he wants to teach you something. Isaiah 55:8-9, 2 Corinthians 12:8-10
Discussion:
  1. Share about the last time you eagerly waited for something to happen. How did you act and what made the wait so hard?
  2. Have you ever felt like God left you on “read”? Explain.
  3. Read Proverbs 3:5-6. What does this passage tell us to do? What does it tell us NOT to do? Why is our understanding so limited?
  4. Read John 11:40-44. Why do you think Jesus waited to go see Lazarus? How do you think seeing the miracle of raising Lazarus from the dead impacted the faith of those who were there?
  5. Read Isaiah 55:8-9. If you’re waiting for God to answer a prayer, how does this passage encourage you?
  6. Read Jeremiah 29:11. God has a plan for your life. How will you change the way you pray knowing this is true?
