You might spend a lot of time thinking about going on to high school, college, or whatever you are going to do after you graduate. Well, God tells us that we need to spend some time preparing for what is going to happen to us after we die.

After Death You Go to Heaven or Hell

The Bible says that after you die you can go to one of two places: heaven or hell. Heaven is eternity with God and his people. Hell is eternity separated from God and everyone else. And once you die your eternity is sealed.

Hebrews 9:27 And just as each person is destined to die once and after that comes judgment…

Heaven Is Better Than What You See on TV

Now, you may not be that excited about going to heaven. After all, tv makes heaven seem pretty lame: a bunch of white clouds and people wearing white robes and playing harps. Fortunately, that’s not at all how the Bible describes heaven.

Revelation 21:3-4 Look, God’s home is now among his people! He will live with them, and they will be his people. God himself will be with them. He will wipe every tear from their eyes, and there will be no more death or sorrow or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever.

Heaven is a place without sorrow. God is there and his people are there, and in heaven we will experience joy for all eternity. The Bible describes heaven as a place of brilliant color where we will do and accomplish incredible things all focused on God.

You Can Know Today That You’ll Go to Heaven When You Die

You don’t have to wonder if you are going to heaven when you die. The Bible says that if you put your faith in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, then your life in heaven is guaranteed. No matter what happens, you will be with God when you die. This is God’s promise to you.

Revelation 21:5 And the one sitting on the throne said, “Look, I am making everything new!” And then he said to me, “Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true.”

When you’re young, eternity can seem like it’s a long way away. But the reality is that even today, we should be driven by eternity.
