Prayer can seem like a game of tug-o-war, with you on one end and God on the other. Here are three prayer principles to remember the next time God won't cooperate.

Talking Points:

  • Prayer isn’t about getting our way, but surrendering our will. The Apostle Paul learned that through his “thorn in the flesh”. 2 Corinthians 12:7-10
  • Prayer reminds us that we’re not in control, but it keeps us close to the one who is. Next time you pray, start with praise (P) and repentance (R) before you ask (A) for your needs.
  • Prayer is not just asking for what you want, but trusting that God knows best. Be sure to finish your prayer time by yielding (Y) to his will, no matter what.
