Jesus wants his followers to serve others.

In today’s lesson, we’re going to learn about the last meal Jesus had with his disciples before he went to the cross to die for our sins. At this point, the disciples still didn’t understand what Jesus was about to endure for them. But Jesus knew what was about to happen and he wanted to teach his disciples one last lesson. Jesus did something that totally freaked out the disciples. Jesus started washing their gross, stinky feet! That was a job no one wanted and only servants would do it. But Jesus did it! And here’s why. He told his disciples that his followers needed to be servants. Remember, Jesus is God. So, if anyone could walk around expecting to be served, it would be Jesus. But that’s not what his attitude was at all. He came to serve us by dying for OUR sins on the cross. So, if the disciples wanted to be known as followers of Jesus, they needed to be known as servants. And that’s true for us, too. We should look to help and serve others because that’s what Jesus would do!
