The story of Moses teaches us that women can and should be strong - and their strength can be used by God for generations.

Talking Points:

  • God used strong, brave women to help Moses along the way and helped to shape the man he became. Exodus 2:1-10
    • Midwives: These women were tasked for caring for Jewish babies. When Pharaoh gave the directive to kill every Jewish boy, the midwives defied this order and cared for Moses.
    • Mother: Moses’ mother was also brave in the face of adversity as she decided to keep Moses regardless of what Pharaoh said. She went so far as to hide Moses and sent him down the river to safety.
    • Sister: Moses’ sister, Miriam, bravely followed her brother down the river to make sure that he was safe. She knew that God had big plans for his life and she wasn’t going to let Pharaoh steal his destiny.
    • Princess: Pharaoh’s own daughter defied her father and raised Moses as her own child.
    • Wife: Moses’ wife circumcised her own son. As hard as that was, she was being obedient to God.
  • God wants women to be strong and God wants women to fulfill the roles he has for them, which are different than roles for men. Genesis 2:18, Ephesians 5:21-26
