History reveals that bloodshed and horror has often been perpetrated in the name of religion, and Christianity is not exempt from this evil legacy. Does that disprove a biblical faith?

Talking Points:

  • Whatever horrible and evil acts were done in Christ’s name in history do not reflect the God of the Bible. Christians today are heartbroken over these acts and feel deep sorrow for the harm done.
  • The love of God made the early Christian church famous. Jesus’ message of love for all people makes it distinct in world religious history. John 13:35
  • Biblical love is costly love. This type of love is rooted in the person of Jesus Christ, who gave up his life for his enemies. Romans 5:8

Quote This:

“It is the practice of our lovingkindness that brands us in the eyes of our opponents.” – Tertullian
