At the edge of the Promised Land, Moses made it clear that fathers and grandfathers needed to get in the game with their sons.

Talking Points:

  • Moses got pretty serious with the fathers and grandfathers before releasing them into the Promised Land. He gave them one final pep talk. Deuteronomy 6:4-8
  • He reminded them to love God with their whole hearts and commit to talking regularly to their kids about God’s commandments, like wearing your emotions “on your sleeves”.
  • You don’t have to be a Bible scholar to be qualified for this as a dad. Use the resources on the men’s page, especially the series Proverbs for Men and Boys.
Discussion:
  1. Initial reactions to this topic? What jumped out at you?
  2. What kind of a relationship did you have with your dad?
  3. Did your dad ever disciple you? If so, how? If not, what would it have meant to you?
  4. Do you feel qualified to disciple your kids? Explain.
  5. Preview Proverbs for Men and Boys. Make a commitment to starting this series with your son this week.
