Does having doubts make your faith a fraud?

Key Points:

  • No one has perfect faith. Faith is not black and white – you have it or you don’t. Faith won’t be perfected until we meet Jesus. Until then there will be times of doubt..
  • People have doubts about many things. Some people doubt their own salvation. Am I really saved? Some doubt whether God really loves them – especially in times of difficulty or suffering. At times Christians can even doubt the existence of God.
  • Doubt is not the same thing as unbelief. The opposite of belief is not doubt, but unbelief. We can see doubt as a bridge to unbelief. Sometimes doubts can lead to this, but often God uses our doubts to lead us to greater confidence. Doubt can be the bridge that spans the gap between perfect faith and your present faith.
  • It’s okay to bring your doubts to God. Doubt is scary. It can be depressing. We need to be able to express doubt. God wants us to come to him with our questions. His arms are open.

Mark 9:24 The father instantly cried out, “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!”
