Kids wrestle with their parents with passion and complete abandon. We need to approach our fight with sin in the same way.

Kids love to wrestle. They are energetic, focused, passionate and just totally get into it. Sometimes parents will even have the cuts and scrapes to prove it. There is actually a spiritual lesson that can be learned from the way our kids wrestle.

Your Fight Against Sin Is a Struggle

The apostle Paul talks a lot about fighting sin.  In the same way that kids fight and wrestle with their parents, we need to fight against sin.  Fighting sin is like a wrestling match. It is not something that is done half-heartedly.

1 Corinthians 9:26-27 So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.

The Bible says that in the same way that you would train hard to be good at a sport, you need to train your body to fight sin.

You Must Take the Fight Against Sin Seriously

A lot of times, we do not take sin very seriously.  Kids are passionate when they are wrestling. They go full force. If you are a Christian, you should attack your sin that way.  The Bible says that if your eye causes you to sin, you should gouge it out. If your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is at that level, that we should be fighting with sin. Think about the sins that you struggle with and the actions that you are taking to fight against them. Talk about this to a mentor, friend or small group and attack the sin that is in your life.
