A lot of Christians don’t feel qualified to make disciples. They think they have to mature first and become more spiritual. But that’s a myth.

Talking Points:

  • First, God gave the pastors Ephesians 4:11
  • The pastors’ job is to equip the people to do God’s work through ministry and service…Ephesians 4:12
  • As people get engaged in doing God’s work, then they mature…Ephesians 4:13
Discussion:
  1. Initial reactions to this topic? What jumped out at you?
  2. Fill in the blank: “I always thought the spiritually mature people were the ones who ________________.”
  3. Make two lists: (1) spiritual things you feel qualified to teach others and (2) things you don’t feel qualified to teach. What do you think God would say about these lists?
  4. Read Ephesians 4:14-15. Talk about how helping others can keep you from wavering in your own faith.
  5. Read Ephesians 4:11-13. Why do you think many Christians think verse 13 makes more sense before verse 12? Have you ever thought that way?
  6. Is there a step you need to take based on today’s topic?
