What true confession means

To “confess” literally means to “speak with” or to “say the same thing”. In biblical terms, when we confess our sins to God, it means we are saying the same thing he says about our sin. The Bible says it like this: 1 John 1:8 If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. 9 But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness. Amen.
