As a teenager, you’ve probably done some crazy things. Well, if you really follow God with your life, he is going to lead you into some "crazy" experiences, and it takes faith to obey.

We can see what “crazy” faith is like in the life of Abraham.

Genesis 12:1 The Lord had said to Abraham, “Leave your native country, your relatives, and your father’s family, and go to the land that I will show you.”

Abraham is an important person in the Bible. He was the father of the Israelite nation. But when we first see him in the Bible, he was just a regular guy…until the day God met him.

God Asked Abraham to Do Something “Crazy”

He told Abraham to leave his relatives, friends, and home and move to some unknown part of the world.

Genesis 12:4 So Abraham departed as the Lord had instructed, and Lot went with him. Abraham was seventy-five years old when he left Haran.

And Abraham obeyed God! At seventy-five years old, Abraham started over and moved into the unknown. Can you imagine your grandpa moving away from everything and going to live in tents in the desert? That’s what Abraham did. He followed God into the desert and spent the rest of his life trusting God.

God blessed Abraham with a huge family that eventually led to Jesus Christ! But before he could receive those blessings, he had to have crazy faith. What does this tell us?

God Wants All of Us to Have “Crazy” Faith

“Crazy” faith isn’t about being crazy, but about being willing to trust and obey God no matter what. Maybe God will call you to be a missionary for him in a foreign land? Maybe he will call you to be a pastor or do outreach on a college campus? Maybe God will give you some great job so that you can use the money you earn to build his kingdom? No matter what God’s personal calling is on your life, you must trust him, even if people say you’re “crazy” for doing so.

Galatians 3:7 The real children of Abraham, then, are those who put their faith in God.

You don’t have to wait until you are grown to have crazy faith. You can do bold things for God today: talk to your friends about God and invite them to church, go on a mission trip, or start serving in your community.

Do something that takes you out of your comfort zone and forces you to trust in God. God wants every Christian to have crazy faith in him. He uses regular people like Abraham and like us to build his kingdom in the world.
