Junkies are addicts, and Christians can become addicted to “good” things – like theology, worship, and even spiritual leaders. There are 3 types of Christian junkies you need to be aware of – so you can avoid becoming one in your life.

The Theology Junkie

This is the guy who loves theology and Bible studies – but never really applies it in everyday life. Jesus said it’s all about loving God and people, and theology junkies often lose sight of that.

1 Corinthians 13:1-2 If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God’s secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn’t love others, I would be nothing.

The Concert (Experience) Junkie

These are the people who love to go to Christian concerts and conferences, and love to worship God through song. There’s nothing wrong with those things, but it could easily become about something other than worship Jesus in spirit and truth.

The Pastor Junkie

These people have their favorite preachers and often listen to them on TV or online. They get caught up in the mega personalities, rather than following Jesus – the head of every church and pastor.

1 Corinthians 3:4-5 When one of you says, “I am a follower of Paul,” and another says, “I follow Apollos,” aren’t you acting just like people of the world? After all, who is Apollos? Who is Paul? We are only God’s servants through whom you believed the Good News. Each of us did the work the Lord gave us.
